Flame Guardian® fire retardants meet Fire Code requirements of NFPA 701, ASTM E-84, CA Title 19, TB 117, NFPA 260, and more.
This product line treats all natural fiber and synthetic fabrics, open cell foam, olefins and carpeting. Flame Guardian® saturants and coatings have excellent flame resistance
The products are halogen-free, and contain 0% VOCs. All products are available with a broad-spectrum biocide and are packaged in five gallon pails or 55 gallon drums. In fact, Turning Star fire retardants are so good, they’ve earned the approval of the Fire Department of the City of New York, and the California State Fire Marshal, the strictest in the US.
Flame Guardian® Fire Retardant Specifications
FG-128 All Purpose Flame Retartdant
Turning Star’s new FGR-128 is a true all-purpose flame retardant chemical with added penetration and adhesion properties. FGR-128 has been tested with proven effectiveness on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and spandex; plywood, pine, and oak as interior finishes; decorative elements such as paper, raffia, and thatching.
FGR-128 is allowed under California AB2998, which bans the use of most flame retardants in many uses. California AB2998 is the model code being enacted in many states.

FG-200 - For All Natural Fibers
FG-200 flame retardant provides excellent resistance while maintaining the original hand and finish of the material. From soft cottons to raw or processed silk, from broadloom ot knits, FG-200 is the ideal choice.

FG-220 – For All Synthetics & Blends, Except Nylon
FG-220 flame retardant is specially formulated to provide superb fire resistance on polyesters, rayons, poly/cotton blends, and a number of other synthetics with very low add-on. Flow, drape and texture of the untreated material remains after treatment.

FG-230 – For Open Cell Foam
FG-230 is a non-toxic non-halogenated option for open cell foam. Formulated to penetrate into the foam requiring minimal add-on weight, FG-230 is the leading choice for commercial upholstery applications.
